I can not say how badly I am steaming inside. We stopped here extra early before a screening a o cinema. We were to sit any where we choose. We sat at the only clean table outside and waited and waited and waited. After about 15 minutes an old man came out and said five minutes. We both laughed and thought he was kidding. Five minutes later he brought bread and butter. No knives no napkins no water. We asked him again for the wine list and set ups and in the rudest tone ever were told five more minutes. I replied with an astonished "really" and he put his hand up to our faces and said "yes really" and walked away We promptly got up and left. I refuse to be treated like this...anywhere. I don't care how good the food may have been... You can't treat customers like this

This place is amazing. Food is expertly cooked and prepared. Always fresh. The owner, Ivan, is very welcoming and conversational. Wonderful little find right here in my neighborhood.

Really great desserts & crepes. It is a little pricey, but good food. Parking might be an issue. Service a little slow, but it is french style.

Kind of weird to find a nice restaurant open for dinner in "downtown" Miami Shores, but here you have it. Cote Gourmet. This is a mom and pop French bistro that you'd find in Paris. I think pop works from of the house, and mom works in the kitchen. I've gone here several times, and it's a GREAT option when you can't get a table at a reasonable hour at Petit Rouge, or don't feel like schlepping to another restaurant. Lots of French mainstays (steak au poivre, escargots, etc) done in a beautifully faithful manner. The food is very good. I'd say a bit pricey, but the food is certainly worth it. They also do beautiful Breton style crepes, which you don't see that often and make a terrific dessert. If you live in Miami Shores or the upper east side this restaurant is a must for those nights you don't feel like going to far from the 'hood for a great meal.

"Found this through yelp. Cute hidden French restaurant in the heart of Miami shores. Had brunch and I tried the French toast which was delish! The tables were decorated with roses on vases. I felt like I was somewhere else. Prices are around $10-$15 per person. Would go back again.

I Love Love this place! The food is amazing. I can not stress how delicious all the dishes are. We have tried everything on the menu and I must say I haven't found a dish I didn't love. It's a small friendly place with decent pricing. Great for date night!

Eggplant mousse with strawberry coulis for an appetizer? I don't know, but it sounds intriguing (never imagined eggplant and strawberry together.) I did not order this though. Had the tilapia entree which I must say was one of the best Tilapia I've had in a very long time. It was servied with balsamic glaze drizzled on the plate, rice topped with fresh dill, and lemon wedges. The complimentary baguettes were good. Reasonable prices (I compared the prices for the buckwheat crepes with A La Folie). Entrees $12 to $16. Crepes ~$10. Sandwiches are less. Cozy and romantic ambience with a laid-back feel. Very bare-bones French, feels like a cafe, but with white tables, tied linen napkins, white tableclothes, and roses. Made me think of it being Buena Vista Bistro's dressier sister with some menu items looking more authentic French. Service was good. I would return and try more things.

Just Passable. Great wines by the glass ($8-9) but parbaked bread, an un impressive croque Monsieur on what looked like hostess white bread, a very decent salad but bad, Ill prepared and unsociable service. I won't go back but the food wasn't bad, though certainly overpriced.

Could use a women's touch with the decor. Service was okay. Pea soup was nice, escargot was good, lamb chops were good & the goat cheese sauce was a perfect pairing. The sirloin steak with pepper corn sauce was perfect with the fried potatoes. The bread was nice especially the crust. It was served warm, very nice touch. It is very noisy inside.

LOVE this place. Come here occasionally because it is a little pricey. Best escargot in Miami. All of the tarts, quiches, and crepes are AMAZING. Not to mention the lamb.. The owners are very nice, and the lady runs the kitchen. Great french food! I look forward to trying the brunch.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked up to this small restaurant tucked into the first floor of a commercial office building in laid back Miami Shores. Needless to say, I was delighted with the experience. The staff is warm and helpful and even the chef was bringing food straight to our table. From appetizers through dessert, everything pleased my palette as I would expect from the food savvy French. I have never travelled to France, but this was the best French cuisine I have enjoyed to date here in the States. I am looking forward to returning in the cooler months when they have sidewalk seating available.

I love French cooking, and this little gem of a place in the Shores downtown is delicious. Tables roadside are abit noisy, so try one near the window instead. Service is excellent. I Will revisit here again for sure.

I really like this place. It is small, but nice. Nothing pretentious, but fresh flowers on the tables and clean. I get the feeling that it is family run, or if not, it feels like a family place. Breakfast/Brunch has been good every time I go, and Dinner is great without being too expensive. They are happy to recommend things and the food seems to be cooked with care and feeling. This is a rarity in miami, so get it while you can. Since it is run by an older french couple, you are likely to have your order misinterpreted and forgotten. This is part of the ambiance, don't even worry.

From the moment we walked into Cote Gourmet, I knew we were going to have an amazing meal. Putting food aside for just a moment, the service on its own was top notch on par with great Chicago restaurants. We were promptly seated (without reservations on a Saturday night, but I think we got lucky) by the warm staff. Ordering wine was fun! The staff seemed to genuinely enjoy helping us pick the right wine, by pouring glasses from multiple bottles and having us blind taste. In addition to the diverse menu, there were a number of specials from which we chose an appetizer: a tart with a tomato base topped with baked goat cheese and beautiful salad. It was mouthwatering. The salad was five-star on its own: delicate and simple with fine ingredients. The must-have item was the seafood linguine in lobster bisque. It was the best I have ever tasted. The bisque was buttery, subtle, and packed with flavor. The mussels were perfectly done, as were the shrimps and scallops. Dessert was a chocolate mousse on a bed of crushed hazlenut. Sweet, light, and a perfect way to end the meal. I will be back soon, and you should go soon! (Just remember that dinner is only Thursday through Saturday.)

a piece of france in miami shores! Great Service! Great Food! i had the veal... wow! we went for my friends bday he is a big fan of french food! He and all parties invited total of 7 people loved the food and restaurant. The wine we had was sooo good, the escargot ( best i have ever had in Miami) also a great place for a romantic dinner!

What a great secret,I almost don't want to share. Nestled in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Miami, only 10 minutes from everything else, you step into France. Need a croque Monsieur, a genuine and organic crepe, or a little foie gras with a stellar wine list, then don't drive over to South Beach, pay for valet, and traffic: drive to Miami Shores, where you can park for free, eat outdoors and enjoy the birds singing. Both French owners are a sheer delight. Can't wait to go for dinner, oh and they now have a Sunday brunch!
A little piece of Paris smack dab in the middle of Miami Shores. Don't let the office building location put you off - the service is warm and friendly, and the food is reliably delicious. I've mostly been there for lunch, when I've enjoyed soups, sandwiches (like the tasty chicken with melted brie cheese) and crepes (light and almost crispy, these crepes are made with whole wheat flour and have just the right amount of filling). Flowers and other small touches add color and elegance to the simple, classic decor. This has become a regular stop for me.

We just got back from France. We visited Paris and Nice. The week we returned we were told about this great French restaurant. It's a small place about 10 tables. Very simple yet elegant. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Our only regret was that we ate too much of that delicous bread. Great wines and reasonable prices. It was like we were back in the Cote d' Azur. Will have to return to give it that 5th star.

Based on recommendations here on Yelp, My GF and I went for dinner last week. She's French and we've eaten at French restaurants all over the world. We know what a good French restaurant's menu should look like. We were under impressed with the selection of dishes and the distinct lack of traditional french food. Perhaps the lunch menu is better. The food is adequate but nothing special. Raising the prices does not make a restaurant french. Just overpriced.

Pregnancy cravings and wanted the escargots. But issue is I had to do take out since I was stuck at home with a little one. Restaurant was kind enough to accommodate since that involved lending us the escargot dish. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I really wanted to love Cote Gourmet... What could be nicer than high-quality food in a quiet cafe atmosphere, close to home? The very high prices (bill was over $100 for two people and a small soup for our baby) here do not correspond with amazing food. We tried several of the soups, my husband had the lamb chops and escargot, and I had the skirt steak. My steak was drenched in a creamy mustard sauce that I should have been prepared for, but I didn't love it. The meat was very tough. Yes, I know that I ordered the skirt steak, but I thought that maybe they would have tenderized the meat? The wine was fine. We chose a Malbec. Overall felt very "meh" about this place and wish that the experience wasn't so draining on my bank account.

Last night was not our first visit to Cote Gourmet, but I just HAD to write about it! The beauty and simplicity of the table setting is warm and welcoming. Lovely, polite wait staff. But, let's get to the main reason for our visit: The dinner! The onion soup was marvelous -- none of that overpowering salty stuff to which we've become accustomed. Wonderful broth, filled with lots of onions, a few croutons and topped by luscious, melty gruyere cheese. Our guest had the escargot and needed more bread to sop up the butter and garlic! My husband had the rich, simple pea soup (which I'd savored on a previous occasion). My husband also ordered the chicken liver salad, which was cooked to perfection, beautifully plated and delicious. Each of us had the leg of lamb, which was excellent! And THIS time, I had dessert -- we all did. I had a prune tart with a lemon sauce that was to die for. Our guest had the tart tatin, and my husband had an apricot pastry. You know, truly, if you add enough butter to anything, it's going to be good, but tonight's meal was heavenly! The ONLY downside to the entire evening, was the temperature in the dining room. It was really too warm. No matter, we will be back again. Thank you for a lovely evening.
This place is decorated really cute and they play French music. The staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and my eggs were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The cappuccino was also really yummy! Loved it!

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical walking in. looked too pricey for the location, however I was pleasantly surprised. the staff was friendly. the wine wasn't too expensive and i ordered a sea food salad that was really good. the presentation was lovely and it tasted great! I would go back again for sure. They even have frogs legs and some other interesting dishes I'm eager to try next time.

I took my DC there for a birthday lunch, and the food was fabulous. I had a kind of sea food pot pie that was tasty and original for $17.50 -- just a tad over a mundane tuna salad I had the day before at Gourmet Diner. This place is much, much better. We had a dinner here two years ago, and I found it pricey then. In fact, it IS pricey. I expected our neighborhood restaurant (we live a two-block walk away) to be a bit less expensive, but heck -- this is a very good restaurant, and it just happens to be in our area.
My friends and I were a bit late sorting out brunch this past Sunday. As a result, our usual Upper Eastside haunts -- Blue Collar and Federal -- had 45 minute + waits. We read about this place on Yelp and decided to venture a few minutes further up Biscayne (and a few more minutes over). Cote Gourmet is a gem. The food is simple, fresh, carefully prepared and correctly executed. My omelette -- which is something that 90% of restaurants overcook and dry out -- was flawlessly made, firm on the outside and slightly runny inside. A crispy crepe arrived, stuffed with soft spinach and brie. A basket of baguette pieces accompanied both. All reminders that the staples of French cuisine can be as satisfying as the fancy stuff when done well. The service was welcoming and uniformly Francophone. Like Buena Vista Bistro, but attentive. We're looking forward to going back to dinner. Well worth the trip.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I've eaten here about 3-4 times. The food is mixed... some delicious (the pea soup and most of the crepes) and some meh (the fish). Didn't feel like it was the best value. Admittedly, the last time I went it was with young children and this place is not the best for young children... neither food-wise nor atmosphere-wise. The male owner (?) and the restaurant seem authentic... right down to having a bit of an attitude... not overly warm and welcoming... but also not overtly rude. Service was a little slow for the number of people who were there at the time. Going strictly by food, I'd rate this place 4 stars, but overall... just 3 stars .

Excellent neighborhood hangout! This restaurant offers friendly service and a menu with many different authentic French options. Steak tartare is not on the regular menu but I had it while I was there and it was delicious. The foie gras appetizer is my favorite and a must to try...delicious! Escargot tasty as well. This is definitely a hidden gem and a must to visit, especially if you live in Miami Shores or surrounding area. This place is a pleasant surprise since there really aren't many dining options in the Shores.

There was no menu in window so, we went inside and asked to see one before deciding whether or not to remain for lunch. Waitress was surly, rude and condescending. Was reluctant to give us the menu. We looked it over and decided to remain anyway. She plunked down two glasses of water and disappeared. Note that there were only two other diners in the place, at the time. A gentleman .. I presume the owner .. finally came and took our orders (which he also got wrong but, by the time the food came, we were too hungry to protest). Other diners came in after us (a young couple) and were treated with smiles etc. by the waitress!!! I had to ask her (politely, I might add, I am never rude) for the check multiple times and was ignored. Finally, had to raise my voice and call out to her. We paid promptly and again had to make multiple attempts to get Miss Charming's attention in order for her to pick up our payment. Be aware that the restaurant is tiny .. perhaps 10 small tables so, it was impossible for her not to be aware of our needs. Food was OK .. nothing special and the restaurant was clean and bright BUT .. we will never go back because of the truly horrible service!!

Totally cute family place with delicious food. Just like a traditional kitchen in France with a mom and dad. Mom cooks, Dad works the front of the house. This place really puts out some exceptional fare. I've been around the block and this food is the best you are going to get in South Florida in the French cuisine department. They don't even know how good they are. Only bring well behaved children and come with time to really enjoy the experience. It's not an express/fast mentality, just a place to really appreciate for what it is: simple and delicious

We discovered this place about a year ago. Hands down my favorite French bistro in Miami. Authentic. Owned by the cutest husband and wife and wife is in the kitchen cooking. I've been for brunch and for lunch. Both meals have been absolutely excellent. Soups, sandwiches, crepes, French toast, all are Amazing. It has become our Sunday brunch spot. Great ambiance. Makes you feel as is you were in a little bistro in France. Also family friendly. We bring our two small children and they cook special dishes for them. Looking forward to trying their dinner specials.

There are not many options for dining in Miami Shores which makes the Cote Gourmet at must-visit if you live in the area. I have been several times at this small and intimate French restaurant and it has never let me down. The french-cuisine is authentic as the restaurant is owned by a French couple (she is the chef), he is the front of the house. The menu is simple but delicious. The escargots, the mussels, the veal (when available) are my favorites. Intimate, simple, and nice dining is all I need in this foodie relationship!

The food here is good when it arrives. Salmon omelette is an excellent choice and orange juice is freshly squeezed per order however they have terrible service even for a French restaurant. So, don't come hungry and prepare to wait 20-30 minutes for your bill when you ask for it. This owner needs to just hang up the apron on this restaurant and spare us all this terrible experience.

A LOVE STORY. A husband and wife from France opened a little neighborhood bistro in Miami Shores. She cooks; he does the front of the house. The décor is understated but elegant. There are fresh roses and hydrangeas inside. Potted plants separate the tables outside from the street. I was there for brunch and the menu was brief--3 soups, 4 apps, 5 entrees. Our party tried the watercress soup, a smoked duck app, leek and brie quiche, and lamb chops with dauphinois potatoes. For dessert, we had chocolate tart. We were having trouble selecting a wine, so the waiter recommended an off-menu white Bordeaux. So glad we took his recommendation. The food was exquisite. Every bite a masterpiece. I refuse to attempt to describe--you must taste for yourself! Or maybe you mustn't. This tiny lovely restaurant has only two employees. They are of a certain age. If you are not prepared to behave like a civilized person and enjoy the company of your companion(s) until the server is free to attend you, then please, go elsewhere. But if you have the luxury of taking the time to enjoy an absolutely special dining experience, please visit Cote Gourmet. There's simply no place else like it in town. One more note--it's walking distance from O Cinema. Can you say "date night?"

Magnifique! Wandered in after a series of failed lunch attempts. Had an amazing lunch experience. Started with a Cabernet Sauvignon and a watercress soup, it was ever so lightly-creamy and thoroughly delicious. This soup was a first for me, I can assure you I'll have it again. The side of two mini-quiches and sesame bread were to die for. Next, the chicken mushroom crêpe. Best crepe I ever had! Thin and slightly crusty, filled with steamy béchamel, mushrooms, chicken and cheese. And very generous portions. And the clientele was quite the cast of characters. I can't wait to come for dinner next!

This is a very sweet cozy spot for locals. it felt like everyone in there was a regular and knew the owner. the food is good and beautifully presented. i have had better and it is not inexpensive, but everything was flavourful and good portions.
